FAQs

How difficult is the administration for my group program?

We are set up to handle all the administration for our group clients such as enrollments, changes, terminations, COBRA, billing problems, claims questions, etc. Unlike other agencies, we do not charge a fee for this service.  Contact us to find out the specifics.

Won’t I pay more buying Insurance through a broker?

No. The cost for purchasing insurance through a broker is the exact same if you purchased directly from the insurance company.  Some plans allow brokers to increase the commission amount but at Stitz & Associates we always request the standard commission amounts for our clients.

How much will my premiums increase at the annual renewal?

The increases can differ depending on the demographics of the group, plan design, claims history along with the insurance company at the time.

What is a Qualifying Event?

A qualifying event is a life event that allows you to enroll into an employer group or individual plan outside of your initial enrollment period.  Examples of qualifying events are as follows: involuntary loss of other group coverage, marriage, birth, divorce, loss of dependent status, etc.  Strict timeframes apply to your enrollment based on the date of your qualifying event.

What is COBRA?

The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) requires continuation of coverage to be offered to covered employees, their spouses, and dependent children when group health coverage would otherwise be lost due to certain specific events such as termination of employment, loss of dependent status, divorce or death.  The eligible beneficiary will be offered COBRA through their prior employer within 14 days of the qualifying event.  The eligible beneficiary has 60 days in which to elect this coverage.
